January 11, 2021, RIVIERA BEACH, FLORIDA In these unprecedented times, we all must search for creative ways to meet challenges. We are no longer able to provide service in the same way as before. Most of our outreach is virtual. Our small businesses are closed or struggling to survive.
Comerica Bank, a valued Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation partner on many initiatives, awarded the CDC a 2020 Small Business Training and Development Grant for $3,750 in October of 2020.
The Riviera Beach CDC has geared their efforts to provide additional support for attendees and graduates of our Small Business $ense Program and existing businesses in the City of Riviera Beach. We have developed and maintained a COVID Relief guide, presenting mini sessions for financial, budgeting and credit strategies to help them survive this pandemic. We are promoting and will continue promoting that businesses are open, hours of operation, business menu specials, and COVID limitations through our social media channels and our Socially Distanced Supper Club Riviera Beach Facebook Group.
“Small business development is the backbone of our community in Riviera Beach. We appreciate Comerica’s continuing commitment to our economic development expansion in the City of Riviera Beach,” says Annetta Jenkins, Riviera Beach CDC Executive Director. Without a strong economic base, residents cannot uplift their families and maintain homes, support our children in schools, and contribute to the overall economic vibrancy of our community. Small businesses do not have the resources to expend precious revenue for marketing, training, and job expansion. We are thankful for this grant so that we can help give education and hope to the area businesses.
