DECEMBER 23, 2020, RIVIERA BEACH, FLORIDA—BankUnited, a valued Riviera Beach Community Development Corporal partner on many initiatives, has awarded the CDC a 2020 General Operating Expenses and Program Support Grant for $6,000.

The Charitable Grant is part of BankUnited’s outreach as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage communities throughout the country with particularly profound impacts on low- and moderate-income neighborhoods and individuals. “BankUnited recognizes, values, and supports the work of our partners who are racing to adapt, address and serve the needs of our nations’ most vulnerable,” says Tiffany Adkinson, AVP, Community Development & Outreach Officer BankUnited, N.A. “We thank you for your exemplary work.”

The generous funding provided by BankUnited will go towards affordable housing initiatives including the Villas of Solana project, a residential development acquired by the Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation, which often partners with the CRA. When completed, the Villas of Solana will be a 28-unit townhome complex in a low-wealth Riviera Beach neighborhood. To date, the preliminary plan work has been completed with amenities including visitor parking, a playground pavilion, walking trail, fountain and lush landscaping. A construction management firm, architect, and attorney have also been secured and financing packages for prospective buyers are being prepared.

The Villas at Solana housing project will provide 28 family, senior, and veteran townhouses in a walkable neighborhood and has a high likelihood of being able to provide affordable housing for single-parent families.
